Intranet Files Observatory

With the objective of creating and spreading knowledge of Intranets in Italy, the Observatory annually analyses Intranet applications from a significant sample of the major businesses operating in Italy in strategic, organisational and technological terms, monitoring evolution over time and comparing this with the principal benchmarks at the international level.

The Permanent Intranet Files Observatory was founded in 2002 as a joint initiative by the MIP School of Management at Milan Polytechnic and Webegg, today Value Team.

In 2006 the Intranet Files Observatory, with a new name: Intranet Observatory, redesigned the limits of its’ research, extending the terms of investigation to evolution in terms of integrated Workspace, and declinations of Intranets in Mobile and Wireless environments, and further research into themes of Community & Collaboration (www.osservatori.net).

The Intranet Observatory is the effective point of reference for Intranets in Italy, with the experience of over 100 Intranet studies at medium-large companies, and publication, in december 2006, of the Fourth Intranet in Italy Report.

Banking Intranets Observatory

In 2004 the Intranet Files Observatory, in collaboration with ABI Lab, the Banking Technologies Research & Development Centre , founded the Banking Intranet Observatory which, thanks to the contributions of primary credit institutes, analyses the state of Intranet in Italian banks.

Today the Observatory conserves the experience matures in the analysis of over 40 Intranets in this sector in Italy.
In the financial sector too, Intranets have a very important role in the evolution and change occurring within banking: the passage from a technological focus to an organisation focus will permit better exploitation of the opportunities delivered by new technologies and by new Intranet based organisational models.

The Banking Intranet project has two phases:

1)Institutional systems analysis, with the creation of and inter-bank working group and a self assessment day, with the scope of elaborating a map of the position of the banking system in terms of the Intranet theme

2) Permanent Observatory of Banks with thorough individual analysis of the Intranets at participating banks and the creation of a debating table for Intranet manager.
